Some projects remind us why we do this work.
Last weekend, the Centro Cívico Cultural Dominicano and the West Harlem community came together to celebrate the official street naming of Dr. Marilú Galván Way, honoring a woman whose lifelong commitment to education, civic engagement, and Dominican culture transformed countless lives across New York City.
The day was far more than the unveiling of a street sign. It was a celebration of legacy. Family, elected officials, community leaders including Manhattan Borough President, Brad Hoylman-Sigal and Comptroller of New York City, Mark Levine were present. We were also joined by Dr. Galván's former students and neighbors, who all gathered to recognize the extraordinary impact Dr. Galván had on generations of New Yorkers and the institutions she helped build.
The celebration continued with a community concert featuring Yasser Tejeda at General Grant National Memorial, bringing people together through music, culture, and shared pride in our heritage.
Congratulations to the entire Centro Cívico Cultural Dominicano team for bringing this historic moment to life. From months of planning and community outreach to the thoughtful execution of each event, this celebration reflected the organization's unwavering commitment to honoring those who paved the way for future generations.
At PLR Group Inc., we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to support this work. Helping shape the strategy, messaging, and communications behind such a meaningful milestone has been both a privilege and a reminder that great marketing is ultimately about helping communities tell their stories and preserve their legacies.
Congratulations to everyone who made this day possible and most importantly, to Lisandra Ramos, CCCD Executive Director and the Galván family. May Dr. Marilú Galván Way inspire generations to come and serve as a lasting reminder of what one life dedicated to service can achieve.
